Celebrate the Summer Solstice with a Fire Dance

Join in the Dance and Activate Your Own Creative Fire

In this creative workshop, we will use the practices of dance to tune into the element fire and discover the wisdom that it has for us. We will clear our fire energy blocks, dance for answers and then move in celebration of all we discover. This is sacred time for your inner dancer, time for her to find her way home.

About Dance & You, the Dancer

You are a dancer.

Yes, I mean you.

You may have forgotten but it is true.

When you were just a wee one, your body wiggled and shimmied and jumped. When music came on your shoulders knew it, your arms, your belly, your hips.

We are born to move. All of us. Not just the few who are chosen (but them too). We all have a right to our body’s wisdom, our body’s grace, our body’s vivaciousness.

Step into the circle and reconnect with this part of yourself, the part of you that was born to dance.

Discover the Power of Fire

Each of the elements brings a different energy to the world. When we dance with the elements, we open to receiving their wisdom and our gifts into our lives.

Fire is the element of action.

It  is our energy and enthusiasm.

Fire is our confidence, our chutzpah. It is where we find our power.

Fire is the energy of our life force and vitality.

Fire the realm of movement, of activity, of doing.

It is the realm of play and playfulness.

The realm of breaking boundaries.

Fire is the great transformer. Dance with fire and everything can change.

Fire is our passion – for life, for our work, for ourselves, for others. It’s what lights us up and what helps us light up the world.

Fire is act of creation, whatever our expression may be.

To activate any or all of these energies, step into the circle and dance with fire.

Candle Fire

In This On-Demand Workshop You Will…

  • AWAKEN: Awaken your inner dancer.
  • CLEAR: Clear old and blocked energy that is stifling your creative fire.
  • DISCOVER: Discover the wisdom fire has for you.
  • CELEBRATE: Celebrate the connection with fire and the wisdom and insight you gain.
  • REMEMBER: Remember that you are a dancer. May you never forget again.

You Will Need…

  • TIME: Set aside some time for this process, an hour will be spacious for the dance.
  • SPACE: Create some space for yourself. Be sure to have the privacy you need in order to express yourself freely. Know that whatever size your dance floor, large or small, you can dance with fire.
  • JOURNAL: You will gather your insights and learnings during our time together, so you’ll need something to write with and something to write on – your journal would be perfect!
  • CLOTHING: Wear something that allows you to move, even better if it’s something you feel wonderful in. Avoid wearing anything slippery on your feet. You might also want a layer you can put on as you move from dancing to journaling.
  • YOUR HEALTH & WELL-BEING: The most important thing, especially when playing with fire, is to tend to your well-being. Please take care of your health and energy. You’ll have the opportunity to dance three times in this circle. Take these dances at your own pace. You can keep it small and still receive all the insight of the experience. If you have any concerns about your well-being consult with your doctor. (Note: By participating you agree that you are taking part in this workshop of your own free will and risk and that you accept full and complete liability and hold the facilitator harmless from any and all liability resulting from and/or arising out of all activities. This agreement is ongoing.)

You Will Not Need

  • DANCE EXPERIENCE OR TRAINING:  You do not need to have any dance experience or training. The power to move your body and dance is within you right now. (Please note: If you have movement limitations, you can dance. Everyone can dance. Dance with your hands, your shoulders, your feet, your eyebrows. Sit in your chair and dance. Lie in your bed and dance. Know what your body needs, tend to yourself wisely (ask your physician for help) and work within your capabilities.)

The Shocking Truth: I Don’t Care If You Make Money at Your Art!

Come to Your Art

I’m going to tell you something shocking. I don’t care if you make money at your art. I don’t care if you make six-figures working two days a week and have a kick-ass brand, a million followers and build passive income so you can bask on the beaches of Spain.

I don’t care.

What I care about is that you don’t die with your art inside you.

I care that at the end of your days you look back on your life, your experience and your body of work and feel proud.

I care that the world gets to see who you are and what you are capable of.

I care that you bring to life what is in you waiting to be born.

I care that you express the unique and precious perspective that only you bring to this world.

I care that you love your life.

I care that you are creatively fulfilled.

I care that your creative spark becomes a fire.

I care that you shine.

I want that for you no matter what.

No matter what your circumstances, no matter who or where you are, no matter how much time you have, no matter how much money you have, no matter how much energy you have I care that in this lifetime, in this body, in this moment, you create. That you take what is in your heart and mind and turn it into something. That you make your creative magic. That you bring what is in you to life and in so doing bring yourself to life too.

Not because you get paid.

Not because someone is watching.

Not because you need to prove something to someone, including yourself.

But because you have a song to sing, a poem to write, a dance to dance and you love it.

Because you are an artist. That is all.

Don’t let anything stop you. Not even something that looks like a dream.

Come to the Table

Creativity, Courage & Non-judgment

Every Monday, Wednesday & Friday morning I invite you Behind the Scenes at my studio.

Today:  I am celebrating a productive week in the studio. I’m also getting ready to be brave. When I decided to host a little Journal Jam at my house, I had no idea that I was actually stepping into taking a courages stand for non-judgment. I hope it inspires you to do the same.

Don’t Just Pin It – Do it!

Crispy Cabbage Salad

How many hours have you spent on Pinterest?

Myself? I’m afraid to imagine! That’s the reason I avoided it so thoroughly at the outset. I knew I would spend hours immersed in beauty, inspiration and ideas – and I have. With great pleasure, I have.

Even inspiration can become distraction and procrastination when we pile and pile and pile up possibilities and never (not ever) invite them into our life.

So this week instead of pinning even one more delicious-looking recipe onto my food board, I decided to give a pinned recipe a go. To be honest, I haven’t had much luck in the past. Remember that popular pin of the sliced Hasselback potatoes that you could bake and they would be as crisp and delicious as fries? Uh, no. In fact, my sister Suzie the Foodie officially debunked that one.

But this? Crunchy Cabbage Salad with Spicy Peanut Dressing (vegan and gluten-free) from Scaling Back – wow – it did not disappoint! We made some substitutions with what we had on hand, including using those little chili packs you get with Chinese food delivery instead of Sriracha, LOL! Even so, it was absolutely delicious. The crunch of the dressed salad didn’t quite hold up the next day but this salad is definitely going in the repeat pile!

I’m so glad I took this recipe from pin to reality!

What have you tried on your Pinterest boards? How did it go?
What might you try this week?
