Every Monday, Wednesday & Friday morning I invite you Behind the Scenes at my studio.
Today: I’m sick but I wanted to wish you a happy March and also invite you to create something on a theme for the BTS Bulletin Board this month!

Creative constraints can be powerful tools for activating our imagination and stretching our creativity. One of my favourite constraints is to create a collage with only one magazine page as material. Here’s an example. I hope you’ll try it too!
The Junk Journal Journey class starts this today! We’ll spend 5 weeks creating Junk Journals together, working with inspiring paper materials, exploring our own themes and tuning into our unique artistic voice. Everyone will end up with a journal that unique expression of their creative heart and the adventure we’ve shared.
This week I held a Facebook Live session to Q&A. I hope the video of the event will help you decide if this e-course is for you.
Registration is $65 USD
There’s a new class starting in The Academy this weekend and I wanted to be sure you didn’t miss it: Junk Journal Journey.
A Junk Journal is a handmade journal created with found papers, such as junk mail (hence the name), old calendars, pages from books and magazines. It’s the perfect place for the paper ephemera of your life – cards, stickers, letters, leftover stationary, etc.
Gather: Every step on this journey is a discovery process. Gathering your materials will be not just a practical exercise but a way for you to hear the stirrings of inspiration in your creative heart.
Envision: You’ll have the opportunity to choose and explore a theme to bring to life through your junk journal so that you’ll have a focused exploration and finish tangible expression of your vision.
Create: You will create a Junk Journal that is uniquely yours, one that expresses your vision and style!
Collage: Once you have made the basic form of the journal, you’ll continue to develop it and your theme with additional collage.
Embellishment: You’ll finish the whole thing off by adding in some drawings, doodles and embellishments – another step in personalizing your very own junk journal.
A Little Note: Don’t be intimidated by any step in this journey! There is nothing here you can’t do. Our goal is to keep it simple and doable and to have fun and grow creatively along the way. We’ll be taking our time with each step so that we can actually enjoy the process while we’re learning and creating.
A Weekly Video Lesson: Every Saturday you’ll get a new video lesson teaching you the next step of the process. Of course, you can choose to watch at a time that is convenient for you.
Format: This is an online e-course delivered through a series of video lessons.
Schedule: Junk Journal Journey runs February 25 to March 25. Lessons will be released on Saturdays.
Feb 25: Intro & Gathering on a Theme
March 3: Assembling
March 11: Collage Elements
March 18: Embellishing
March 25: Celebrating & Sharing
Supplies: I’ve kept to the basics for this course but you are welcome to get as fancy as you like during your Junk Journal Journey
Your Guide: Jamie Ridler. A journaler for decades, I am a creative living coach who has led creative workshops covering everything from dreamboards to journaling for entrepreneurs. I am also the founder of Give a Girl a Journal, a do-good initiative that brings journals to girls around the world!

Registration is $65 USD
Today: I am wrapping up a whirlwind of a week getting ready for our Junk Journal Journey and it’s led me to thinking about all the different ways there are to be creative (plus all the ways judgment can shut us down!)
Today: I am working on strategies for focusing on projects instead of pinging between them, plus I am so excited to begin Junk Journal Journey on Saturday!
